아스트리드 테라자스(Astrid Terrazas)는 멕시코계 미국인 작가로 프랫 인스티튜트 (Pratt Institute)에서 일러스트레이션 학사 학위를 수여 후 현재 뉴욕을 기반으로 활동하고 있습니다. 작가는 멕시코 설화, 일상의 경험, 초현실적 변형, 꿈의 풍경을 융합한 상징적인 시각 언어를 사용하여 회화와 도자기 작업을 선보입니다. 작가의 작업은 개인적 혹은 공동체적 트라우마를 ‘발견하고 묻는’ 과정으로, 이를 통해 심리적인 경험을 심화시켜 치유로 이끄는 이야기를 전달하고자 합니다.
Astrid Terrazas, a Mexican-American artist based in New York, received her BFA in Illustration from Pratt Institute. The artist develops paintings and ceramic works, experimenting with various materials such as fabric, plastic, wood, and everyday objects. The artist uses a symbolic visual language merging dreamscapes, Mexican folklore, everyday experiences, and surreal transfigurations. Through her process of “finding and burying” personal or communal trauma, she deepens emotional and psychological experiences and conveys stories that lead to healing.
