히만 청(b. 1977)은 이미지, 퍼포먼스, 상황, 글쓰기가 교차하는 지점에서 현대 사회와 정치 구조를 탐구하는 작가이다. 날카로운 통찰과 신랄한 위트가 특징인 그의 작업은 동시대 지정학과 데이터 중심의 네트워크 사회가 지닌 사회 구조적 아이러니를 조명한다. 종종 관객의 참여를 유도하는 청의 작업은 일상 속 정치적 매체로서의 사회 기반 구조를 분석하고, 재상상하며, 때로는 개입하는 행위로 이해할 수 있다.

Heman Chong (b. 1977) is an artist working at the intersection of image, performance, situation, and writing, exploring contemporary society and political structures. Drawing on sharp insight and acerbic wit, his practice engages with contemporary geopolitics and the infrastructural ironies of our data-driven, networked society. His work, often encouraging audience participation, can be read as acts of imagining, analyzing, and at times, intervening in infrastructure as an everyday medium of politics.

Heman Chong currently lives and works in Singapore. His work has been the subject of institutional solo exhibitions at Singapore Art Museum, Singapore (2025); UCCA Dune, Beidaihe (2024); STPI, Singapore (2024); Het Nieuwe Instituut, Rotterdam (2019); Weserburg Museum, Bremen (2019); Jameel Arts Centre, Dubai (2019); Swiss Institute, New York (2018); Art Sonje Center, Seoul (2015); Rockbund Art Museum, Shanghai (2016); South London Gallery, London (2015); NUS Museum, Singapore (2011); Art in General, New York (2007), among numerous others.
