윤미류는 1991년 전주에서 출생하여 서울을 기반으로 활동하고 있습니다. 홍익대학교에서 회화와 예술학을 전공하고 서울대학교 서양화과 석사를 졸업했습니다. 윤미류 작가는 철저히 연출된 장면과 우연적 요소인 빛, 온도, 순간적인 표정, 움직임 등과 결합한 이미지를 선보입니다. 작가는 찰나에 포착된 추상적인 감각은 시각화하여 낯익은 대상이 환기하는 사적이면서 낯설고 추상적인 인상들을 은유적으로 드러냅니다. 그는 대상을 구체적으로 묘사하는 것을 넘어 인물과 환경의 상호작용에서 나타나는 독특한 조형성과 추상적인 감각을 드러내며 대상이 가지는 고유의 물성을 회화적 언어로 번역하고자 합니다. 그 결과 작가의 작품은 구체적인 대상으로부터 출발하면서도, 대상을 떠나 독립적으로 존재할 수 있는 이미지를 창조합니다.
Miryu Yoon, born in 1991 in Jeonju, is currently based in Seoul. The artist completed her BA in Art History and Theory and BFA in Painting at Hongik University, followed by an MFA in Painting from Seoul National University. Yoon has been exploring how opposing concepts such as the real and the imaginary, the familiar and the unfamiliar, and the staged and the spontaneous can coexist in painting. She casts people who she has known for a long time to play imaginary characters, takes them to a certain natural setting such as a hillock several times to set them against various times and weather. They pose and act however they feel like, while the artist takes photographs of them with an iPhone. As a final process, Yoon reinterprets those images as paintings on canvases.
