오세린 작가는 1987년생으로 서울대학교에서 동양화와 금속공예 학사를, 동 대학원에서 금속공예 석사를 마친 후 서울을 기반으로 활동합니다. 원본과 복제, 실제와 가상, 새것과 버려진 것처럼 이분화된 범주를 공예와 오브제, 영상, 텍스트 작업으로 탐구해 왔습니다. 작가는 이러한 확장된 장르와 독특한 미감으로 시선을 사로잡는 작업을 선보이고 기존의 통념을 관찰하고 재구성의 가능성을 제시합니다.
Born in Seoul in 1987, Serin Oh holds a BFA in Oriental Painting and Metalwork and Jewelry and an MFA in Metalwork and Jewelry at Seoul National University. Oh’s work explores dichotomies of original and imitation, real and virtual, new and discarded through crafts, art objects, video, and text to construct an expanded body of work which seeks to destabilize and disrupt common-sense assumptions and notions.
