파샤드 파르잔키아는 1980년 이란 테헤란에서 태어나 현재 덴마크 코펜하겐을 기반으로 활동하고 있습니다. 작가는 아홉 살 때 이란 혁명의 여파로 가족들과 함께 덴마크로 이주하면서 이질적인 문화를 동시에 접하고 영향을 받았습니다. 파르잔키아는 페르시아의 시 문학, 고대 페르시아 철학자 자라투스트라의 사상, 이란의 영화감독 압바스 키아로스타미의 작품을 통해 자신의 문화적 유산에 대한 깊은 조예를 쌓는 한편, 새롭게 접하게 된 서구의 시각 문화와 대중문화 등 다양한 자극과 영감은 인간의 삶과 주위 세계, 그리고 이미지를 대하는 작가의 독창적 시선과 작업 방식, 회화적 언어의 근간을 이룹니다. 거침없는 붓 터치와 강렬한 색감, 과감한 형태와 구성으로 주목을 받아온 파르잔키아는 회화를 중심으로 조각, 설치, 판화를 아우르는 다양한 작업을 전개하고 있습니다.
Farshad Farzankia was born in Tehran, Iran in 1980 and is currently based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Farzankia relocated to Denmark with his family at the age nine in the wake of the Iranian Revolution, where he was exposed to and influenced by different cultures. He gained an understanding of his own cultural heritage through Farsi poetry and literature and the ideas of the ancient Persian philosopher Zarathustra and works of Iranian film director Abbas Kiarostami. At the same time, he grew fascinated by the new visual and popular culture he encountered in the West. These stimuli form the backbone of his artistic approach, pictorial language, and original perspective on human life, the surrounding world, and images. Farzankia is known for his confident brushstrokes, bright pop palettes, and simple yet bold shapes and compositions in his large-scale paintings, sculptures, mixed-media and installation work.
