울리케 토이스너는 1982년 독일 프랑크푸르트/오데르 출생, 독일 바이마르를 기반으로 활동하고 있습니다. 작가는 바이마르 바우하우스 대학교 (Bauhaus University Weimar)에서 순수예술을 전공한 뒤 프랑스 니스에 위치한 국립미술학교 빌라아르송(École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts à la Villa Arson)을 졸업했습니다. 토이스너는 세계를 하나의 연극 무대로 설정하고, 사람들을 극 중 배우이자 앙상블로 상정하여 동시대 사회의 모습을 탐구합니다. 각각의 작품은 작은 연극 무대이자 축소된 세계로, 작가는 잉크 드로잉, 드라이포인트 에칭, 파스텔 드로잉 등 다양한 매체를 통해 현대의 사회적 현상과 분위기를 반영하고, 이를 초월적인 이미지로 변형합니다.
Ulrike Theusner, born in 1982 in Frankfurt/Oder, Germany, is currently based in Weimar, Germany. After studying Fine Arts at the Bauhaus University Weimar, she graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts ”Villa Arson“ in Nice, France. Theusner explores contemporary society by conceiving the world as a theatrical stage, where people are both actors and an ensemble within the play. Each work is a small stage, through various media, including ink drawings, drypoint etchings, and pastels, the artist reflects the social atmosphere of the modern world and transforms everyday social phenomena into transcendent images.
