아나스타샤 코마는1986년 구소련 칼리닌그라드 출생으로 모스크바 건축대학교(Moscow Institute of Architecture)에서 건축 및 환경 디자인 석사 학위를 취득 후 현재 뉴욕을 기반으로 활동하고 있습니다. 뉴욕 매니지먼트(Management), 상하이 뱅크, 로스앤젤레스 나자리안/쿠르시오(Nazarian/Curcio) 등에서 개인전을 선보일 뿐만 아니라 홍콩 포디움(Podium), 뉴욕 스위블 갤러리(Swivel Gallery), 뉴욕 크리스틴 로렐로 & 반 도렌 왁스터(Kristen Lorello & Van Doren Waxter), 이스트 햄프턴 하퍼스(Harper’s), 한국의 CICA 미술관 등 뉴욕과 캘리포니아를 중심으로 다양한 프로젝트에 참여하고 있습니다.

아나스타샤 코마는 예술과 현대 생명공학의 경계에서 현대사회의 복잡한 현실과 인간의 다층적인 경험을 탐구하는 작품을 선보입니다. 인간과 자연, 과학적 진보 사이의 경계를 탐구하는 코마의 작업은 단순한 예술적 표현을 넘어, 현대 기술발전이 불러일으킨 인간의 복잡한 경험과 감정을 조명하며 생명 윤리와 존엄성에 관한 깊이 있는 성찰을 제공합니다.

Anastasia Komar was born in 1986 in Kaliningrad, USSR, and is currently based in New York. She earned a Master’s degree in Architecture and Environmental Design from the Moscow Architectural Institute. Her major solo exhibitions include Management in New York, BANK in Shanghai, and Nazarian/Curcio in Los Angeles. Selected group exhibitions include Podium Gallery in Hong Kong, Swivel Gallery in New York, Kristen Lorello & Van Doren Waxter in New York, Harper’s in East Hampton, and CICA Museum in Korea. In addition to her exhibitions, Komar is actively engaged in various projects at multiple locations, primarily in New York and California.

Anastasia Komar explores the complexities of contemporary society and the multilayered nature of human experience at the intersection of art and bioengineering. Komar’s work engages with the profound ethical and existential questions arising from contemporary technological advancements, offering a thoughtful meditation on bioethics, human dignity, and the intricate emotional dimensions of contemporary life.
