서울을 기반으로 활동하는 작가 오묘초(b. 1984)는 생물학에 대한 깊이 있는 관심과 문학적 상상력을 결합하여, 생명이 끊임없는 변형을 통해 지속되는 방식을 탐구하는 사변적 서사를 구축한다. 그는 조각을 서로 다른 시간성이 교차하는 4차원의 장으로 바라보며, 유기체와 환경이 상호작용하고 적응하며 서로를 형성하는 과정을 추적한다. 태고의 심해 생명의 흔적이나 미래 생명체, 혹은 아직 형성되어 가는 존재를 연상시키는 그의 작업은 탄생과 소멸 사이의 모호한 경계에 존재한다. 이를 통해 변화하는 환경속에서 생명이 끊임없이 새로운 존재 방식을 발견하고, 예기치 않은 관계를 만들어내는 과정을 조각적 언어로 풀어낸다.
Seoul-based artist Omyo Cho (b. 1984) combines biological inquiry with literary imagination to construct speculative narratives exploring how life persists through continual transformation. Conceiving sculpture as a four-dimensional field where multiple temporalities intersect, she traces how organisms and environments shape one another through adaptation, reciprocity, and change. Her works evoke forms that seem simultaneously ancient and yet to come—future organisms, remnants of deep-sea life, or structures still in formation—existing between emergence and erosion. Through her sculptural language, Cho explores how life continually finds new ways to endure, regenerate, and form unexpected connections.
